Fun with Pangrams

Pangrams Typography

I was in a typography class at SJSU back in the early 80′s and we had to hand letter the entire alphabet, but using full sentences. I didn’t know that pangrams are sentences that use every letter of the alphabet.  I quickly discovered that if I could make a shorter sentence, I would have to work less.

Pol’s Pangrams

  • Thin wizard ogled verb of quick sexy pajama (36)
  • Bad witches fly grave to hex pumpkin quiz (34)
  • Dumb vaquero picks waltz to fight jynx (33)
  • Jackdaws love my big sphinx of quartz (31)
  • Glib jocks quiz nymph to vex dwarf (28)

And being the lazy sod I am, (No, being the efficient and organized man I am), I came up with these pangrams (sentences) so I had to do less work. Notice the pangrams got shorter and shorter as I went along.

This was much easier than using the most famous of pangrams:  …and way less boring, too.

I have since found out that there are people that do this for fun and someone else had also discovered the Jackdaws pangram. Imagine that! Oh, yeah, now I discover the part about pangrams being sentences using every letter in the alphabet. Oh well, at least I still had the shortest of the pangrams. I have yet to find a shorter pangram than my “Glib jocks”

One day, I’ll scan all my pangrams from my typography projects, but for now… this is what you get on this vanRhee family web site.

Here’s a link to a web site with a bunch more pangrams: Fun with words.
